FHU Alumni and Friends Offer Tours to Alpine Europe and Alaska in 2027

Following a series of well-received domestic and international tours, 91探花鈥檚 Alumni and Friends Travel Program will continue its tradition of shared exploration in 2027 with two featured experiences: “Explore Switzerland, Austria and Bavaria”, May 5-13, 2027 and “Alaska Discovery Land and Cruise”, Aug. 25-Sept. 6, 2027.

Explore Switzerland, Austria, and Bavaria

The Explore Switzerland, Austria and Bavaria tour offers a nine-day journey through the heart of Alpine Europe, blending scenic landscapes with cultural immersion across three countries. Travelers will visit picturesque cities such as Bern, Habkern, Lucerne, Vaduz, Innsbruck, Salzburg and Bavaria. Along the way, participants will experience local traditions through activities such as alphorn and yodeling demonstrations and a Tyrolean folklore show. Additional highlights include visits to Linderhof Palace and Mirabell Gardens 鈥 recognized by many as a filming location for 鈥淭he Sound of Music鈥 鈥 as well as time to explore historic city centers framed by the Alps.

Alaska Discovery Land and Cruise

the Alaska Discovery Land and Cruise tour invites alumni and friends on a 13-day journey that combines inland exploration with a seven-night cruise experience. The itinerary begins with a land tour featuring Denali National Park, where travelers will take part in a Tundra Wilderness Tour and enjoy opportunities to view Alaska鈥檚 diverse wildlife and expansive landscapes. The journey continues aboard a Holland America Line ship, with scenic cruising through Glacier Bay, the Inside Passage and past Hubbard Glacier. Guests will visit Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan, each offering its own glimpse into Alaska鈥檚 history and culture. Additional experiences include a luxury domed railcar ride, a musical dinner theater and a visit to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, before concluding in Vancouver, British Columbia, with stops at Grouse Mountain and Stanley Park.

Who can Travel with FHU?

Tours are open to alumni, donors, university friends, and Christians who wish to travel in the company of other Christians and those associated with FHU.

How do Travelers make Reservations?

All reservations are made online through unique webpages. Each web page contains the reservation form, full trip itinerary, and an FAQ section to answer questions.

What if the web page doesn't answer a specific question a potential traveler has?

Do travelers pay for the trip upfront?

No. A per-person deposit is required to secure your reservation on each Collette tour, and the final balance is paid 90 days from tour departure.

How many reservations does FHU have for each tour?

It varies by tour. Typically, we have between 40-44 openings on each tour. Reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. After a tour is closed, a waitlist for each tour is established and potential travelers are added to the waitlist based upon a paid reservation date.

Is this trip physically strenuous or does it involve a high level of physical activity?

Collette rates their trips on a 1 鈥 4 activity scale, with one being the lowest level of activity and four being the highest.

Explore Switzerland, Austria, and Bavaria聽is rated at three with the following description from Collette: You don鈥檛 want to miss a thing, so walking and standing for longer periods of time (2-3 hours) isn鈥檛 a big deal. A moderately paced two-and-a-half-hour walking tour, covering several miles, hills, and uneven surfaces, is no problem for you. Walking four miles over the course of a day is very doable, as is climbing into and out of various modes of transportation (tuk-tuk, cable car, zodiac, etc.). You can climb three flights of stairs easily and handle altitudes between 6,000 and 9,000 feet. Expect some longer days balanced with free time to recharge or set out on your own adventure. This level is not a fit for travelers who require mobility assistance devices.

Alaska Discovery Land & Cruise is rated at one with the following description from Collette: You鈥檙e a leisurely traveler. You typically take it easy and discover the energy of a new place by people-watching or soaking in the atmosphere at a local caf茅. You can climb at least one flight of stairs, board a coach, and walk unassisted at a relaxed pace for up to 60 minutes without difficulty.You can easily handle altitudes up to 5,000 feet.

Are travel protection plans offered?

Yes. Collette offers the option to purchase a travel protection plan for each traveler (amount varies by tour) due at the time of reservation. Travel protection allows for a full refund, minus the cost of the protection, up to the day before departure for any reason.
